Columbiana (17-7) and West Branch (17-8) traveled to Mount Union on Tuesday for a post season tune up game before both squads sectional final contests on Wednesday. West Branch overcame an early 1-0 deficit, scoring four runs in the third inning and never looking back en route to an 8-2 victory.
Alex Eusebio got the start for Columbiana and pitched four innings giving us six runs (four earned) while striking out four. Devin Daugherty finished the final three frames giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits while striking out seven Warriors.
Ian Less and Brady Kridler each had two hits for the Clippers. Less also doubled and scored both Clipper runs. Zachary Pleska doubled in a run and Seth Spooner also added an RBI single.
Next up, Columbiana will host the Jefferson Falcons in an OHSAA Sectional Final contest at Firestone Park. The game time has been moved up to 4 PM in order to try and beat the rain coming in the evening. All fans will need to buy a ticket for the game which need to be purchased on OHSAA’s website.
