Columbiana (16-5, 9-1 EOAC) scored three runs in each of the first two innings and never looked back on its way to an 8-2 victory over Lisbon Wednesday afternoon.
Devin Daugherty picked up his fourth win of the season pitching six innings allowing two runs (0 earned) on two hits while striking out five. Riley McElwain finished off the final frame striking out the side, allowing one hit.
Offensively, Columbiana pounded out 12 hits on the afternoon. Leading the way was McElwain who was 3-3 with a double and three RBI’s. Zachary Pleska added two hits including a double and Seth Spooner also had two knocks for the Clippers.
The win sets up a showdown Friday with United for the league title. The game will start with two outs in the top of the second inning with United holding a 3-1 lead.
