Columbiana (7-0, 3-0 EOAC) used good pitching and a big first inning to defeat Southern 14-1 in six innings on Tuesday afternoon.
Devin Daugherty (1-0) picked up his first win of the season going four innings and striking out eight while allowing one run on three hits. Eddie Clancy saw his first action on the mound finishing off the final two innings without allowing a hit and striking out one.
Offensively, the Clippers got off to a fast start plating ten in the first frame. Ian Less led the way for the winners going 3-3 with an RBI and stealing three bases. Seth Spooner was 1-1 with two runs scored. Zachary Pleska knocked in two runs and scored two during his 1-1 afternoon. Alex Eusebio plated three runs while going 1-2 with a walk. Clancy and Trevor Dearing each also knocked in two runs for Columbiana. Brady Kridler was 1-2 with a run scored and an RBI.
The Clippers will welcome Girard to town on Thursday. First pitch is 5:00 at Firestone Park.
