Clippers can’t withstand late Hubbard Rally falling 7-5

Box Score

Columbiana (16-7) dropped a tight one to Hubbard on Thursday afternoon.  The Clippers were leading 5-1 heading into the sixth inning but four errors and some aggressive baserunning doomed Columbiana eventually falling 7-5 to the Eagles.

Offensively, Columbiana had eight hits including three from Bayden Pipoly.  Riley McElwain added two doubles and Seth Spooner was 2-3 with a double.

McElwain got the start and went 5+ innings allowing 5 runs (2 earned) on four hits and striking out five.  Seth Spooner finished the last two innings allowing 2 runs (0 earned) on 2 hits and he struck out 1.

Columbiana will look to rebound tomorrow when the Potters of East Liverpool will visit Firestone Park.  First pitch is scheduled for 5 PM.
