Clippers fall to Ringgold at PNC in Experience of a Lifetime

PNC Team 1

It was a cool rainy Pittsburgh night but that did not damper the mood at PNC Park as the Clippers took on the Ringgold Rams on Friday night.  Columbiana (7-2) eventually fell to the Rams by a 9-2 score but the experience is what will live with the players throughout their lifetime.

Ringgold took an early 2-0 lead but the Clippers battled back scoring one each in the second and fifth to tie the game. In the second inning, Trevor Dearing singled with two outs and moved to second on a single by Dan Wilczak. Tyler Andersen followed with a two strike single to score Dearing bringing the score to 2-1.

In the fifth, after singles by Joe Wilczak and Riley McElwain, Seth Spooner lined a ball to center driving in Wilczak to tie the game at 2.

In the bottom frame the Rams played small ball and combined with a couple clutch hits, rallied for 6 runs to pull away.

McElwain got the start on the mound pitching 4 strong innings allowing 2 runs and striking out 7.

Logan Hoschar (1-1) took the loss allowing 7 runs (1 earned) in 1.2 innings of work. Seth Spooner would finish off the final frame with a strikeout.
