Columbiana (4-1, 3-0 EOAC) routed Leetonia 19-3 Wednesday afternoon at Leetonia High School. The Clippers jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first but scored 14 runs in the second to take a commanding lead.
On the mound, three pitchers combined to no hit the Bears. Zachary Pleska got the start and pitched two strong innings striking out four. Brady Kridler followed going two innings allowing three runs (0 earned) without allowing a hit striking out two. Seth Spooner would put the final touches on the victory with a hitless fifth striking out one.
Offensively, the Clippers were led by Dalton Whitehair and Joey Wilczak who each collected two hits. Whitehair added an RBI and run scored while Wilczak knocked in two and scored three runs. Pleska helped himself out at the plate with two RBI’s. Tyler Andersen was 1-3 with three RBI. Logan Hoschar tripled in the second and Bayden Pipoly added a 2 run double in the 2nd.
Columbiana is back in action Thursday for a non-conference matchup with Liberty at Cene Park. First pitch is scheduled for 5 PM.
