Columbiana (20-5) defeated Lowellville 9-5 on a sunny but blustery afternoon at Cene Park in Struthers. Columbiana jumped out to a 6-0 lead, but the Rockets battled back bringing the score to 6-5 heading into the seventh but the Clippers were able to tack on three in the final frame to earn the four run victory.
Zach Fahs (3-1) earned the victory pitching two scoreless innings and striking out three without giving up a hit.
Chase Franken paced the Columbiana offense going 3-5 on the day including two triples and two runs scored. Mitch Davidson knocked in two runs on his 1-3 day, while Tim Davin, Zach Fahs and Keenan Green all added hits for the Clippers.
Columbiana is off Tuesday, but will face the winner of tomorrows Crestview-Campbell Memorial game Wednesday at Firestone Park in OHSAA tournament action. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 pm.
