Clippers Fall in Extra Innings to Crestview

Columbiana (20-6) fell 5-3 to Crestview (12-10) in 8 innings Wednesday afternoon in an OHSAA Sectional Final.  Crestview moves on to play South Range in the district semifinals next Tuesday at Cene Park.

Jake Clark (4-3) got the start and was excellent in 7.1 innings of work.  He was masterful through his first five innings not allowing a hit and allowing only one base runner.  On the day Clark struck out nine with two walks.

Columbiana got on the board first in the fifth inning after a two run single by Tim Davin.  After the Rebels took a 3-2 lead in the sixth Columbiana answered right back.  Connor Stacey pinch ran for Vince Vivo and was able to steal second then scored on a single by Kennan Green.

Green led the way at the plate for Columbiana, collecting three singles on the day and an RBI.  AJ Perkins also had a hit, a walk and was hit by a pitch.  Mitch Davidson was on base three times including being hit by two pitches.

Columbiana will close out the season this week with a trip to Jackson Milton on Friday and will host Western Reserve at 11 am on Saturday.
