Columbiana and Western Reserve traveled to Niles, Ohio and Eastwood Field home of the Mahoning Valley Scrappers and YSU Penguins, Saturday morning for a non conference matchup. The Clippers (17-6) jumped out to an early lead and added on each inning prevailing 14-0 in five innings.
Zachary Pleska picked up his fourth win of the season striking out five and allowing one hit in four innings of work. Alex Eusebio pitched the final frame striking out the side for the Clippers.
Offensively, the Clippers had eight hits and were aided by six walks and three hit by pitches. Pleska helped his own cause with two hits and four RBI including a double. Riley McElwain tripled for the Clippers. Ian Less was 1-1 with a walk, two RBI’s and two stolen bases. Brady Kridler added a hit and two RBI’s while Seth Spooner, Bayden Pipoly, and Eddie Clancy each had RBI singles.
Up next the Clippers will travel to Leetonia on Monday to round out their conference schedule before a tournament tune up Tuesday at home vs. West Branch.
