Clippers-Warriors See First Action of Season

Columbiana and West Branch got together on a chilly Wednesday afternoon at the University of Mount Union for both squads first chance to face opposing pitching and practice on a field.  With the cold and wet weather that has been present so far this spring it was an opportunity for many players to get an opportunity to see some live action.

Riley McElwain, Seth Spooner, Zachary Pleska, Alex Eusebio and Devin Daugherty all saw action on the mound as the Clippers and Warriors played 8 innings.  The scrimmage was played in a controlled environment with strict pitch counts on pitchers along with situations where innings were started with runners on base.

In a typical early spring training game, 20 players saw action for Columbiana whether it was in the field, at the plate or on the bases.

The Clippers next opportunity for live action will be Thursday March 17th when the Marlington Dukes come to town.  The scheduled start time is 4:30.
