Quakers down Clippers 11-8

Columbiana (16-9) dropped a high scoring game to Salem (23-3) on Monday 11-8.

Salem got on the board first with four runs in the first inning but Columbiana answered right back scoring six of their own in the second inning.  Logan Hoschar started the inning off with a walk and then Carson Dota, Bayden Pipoly, Tyler Andersen, Trevor Dearing and Zachary Pleska each followed with hits giving the Clippers the advantage.

Salem, however, responded with four runs in their half of the inning which included a 3 run home run.  Salem would tack on three more in the 3rd giving them an 11-6 advantage.  Columbiana would continue to fight adding a run in the sixth and seventh eventually falling by the 11-8 margain.

Offensively, the Clippers had nine hits on the day.  Andersen would finish with three hits including two runs scored and an RBI.  Pleska added two hits in total with two RBI and a double.

On the mound, Seth Spooner struck out three in an inning of work.  Hoschar finished off the day pitching 3.1 innings not allowing a run on three hits striking out four.

Next up for the Clippers will be Cardinal Mooney in a Sectional Final game at Firestone Park.  First pitch is scheduled for 5 PM.
