On the night that we celebrated the seniors, each and every one of them contributed offensively to our 13-7 victory over Heartland Christian, in some way.
While he may not have logged a hit, Max Conway still logged an RBI and scored 2 runs and stole 2 bases. Blake Unger had a hit, 2 RBIs, and scored a run. William Bucci had a hit, 2 RBIs, and scored 2 runs. Reese Roush, who got the start on the mound and the win for the Clippers in his 5-inning effort, had a double, an RBI, and a run scored. Zane Strohecker had 2 hits and scored 2 runs. And, Daniel Goehring had a huge day at the plate, with 2 hits and 2 RBIs.
Sophomore Avery Young had himself a day at the plate, with 3 hits (2 of which were doubles), 2 RBIs, a run scored, and 3 more stolen bases (giving him 28 on the year). Junior Hunter Davanzo stole 2 bases and scored 2 runs in the game, while sophomores Drennen Bosela and Rocco Mediate each stole a base and scored a run.
As mentioned, senior Reese Roush took the hill for the Clippers and went 5 strong before handing things over to senior Daniel Goehring and sophomore Nick Klindworth. Reese struck out 9 and allowed just 3 earned runs, earning his third win of the season.
The varsity and JV squad will both be in action tonight, as the JV team will follow the varsity with “extra innings” against Beaver Local. Those games were originally scheduled to be at Beaver Local, but they have been moved to home. 5:30 start #fightANDflight
