With our first practice in the books, the 2025 season is officially underway! With some familiar faces, and a lot of new faces, there is quite a bit of anticipation for what is ahead. After two consecutive undefeated seasons in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference, we, the two-time defending champions, will look to retain the title in 2025. We did lose seven players to graduation last year, and five of them were everyday starters. However, we will be returning four starters, and we proudly have several players who gained very valuable experience at the junior varsity level last season. We are one of the few small schools in the area to field a JV team consistently, which means that most of the competition that those guys face is from bigger schools. In one of their final games of the 2024 season, the young guys beat Alliance. Developing and learning HOW to win are the two main components of the junior varsity level, and those guys had a strong finish to give us, though losing a phenomenal 2024 class, a lot of optimism heading into 2025.
And, on top of the new contributors, we are bringing back four strong starters from the 2024 campaign. Senior first baseman Max Conway and senior pitcher and outfielder Reese Roush will both be heading into their third seasons as varsity players, and both of them have earned all-EOAC honors in past. Returning sophomore pitcher and shortstop Avery Young was named EOAC Honorable Mention last season as a freshman. And, junior catcher Hunter Davanzo heads into his second season with the varsity squad.
With just over a month until our first game of the season, I am looking forward to a great several weeks of learning and growth. And then, the regular season will be here before we know it, when we get to display that learning and growth for all to see. Go Clips! #fightANDflight
