Clippers Efficiently No Hit and Take Care of the Bears

On Friday night, the Clippers did exactly what they needed to do, in quick fashion, to get out with a 10-0 five inning victory over Leetonia. Senior Anthony Hall got the start and the win for Columbiana, and, as planned prior to the game, went three innings of no hit baseball. Then, sophomore Sam Inboden came in to get his planned two innings of work, and he also did not allow a hit. Hall and Inboden actually wound up facing the minimum, as the only baserunner allowed (via hit-by-pitch) was wiped out by a double play. Anthony struck out five Bears, while Sam logged three strikeouts.

Hitting-wise, the guys did a great job of keeping their weight back and shooting everything to the right center field gap. Senior Devin Daugherty hit an inside-the-park homerun and had two RBIs. Fellow senior Ian Less and freshman Avery Young both had very similar hits to Daugherty’s that went in as triples, but both of them scored on the same plays due to some fumbling by the relay guys. Ian’s came with the bases juiced. Junior Max Conway also smoked a triple in this one. Seniors Alex Eusebio and Dylan Hogan also contributed hits (Eusebio, two singles and Hogan, a single). The game took a total of one hour and nine minutes on a beautiful Friday evening. Very efficient!
