Columbiana (14-5, 7-1 EOAC) defeated the Lisbon Blue Devils 8-0 on a sunny Monday afternoon at Firestone Park. Alex Eusebio and Seth Spooner combined to no hit the Blue Devils for the Clippers fourth no-hitter of the season.
Eusebio got the start, pitching two innings and striking out three. Eusebio was a little wild, walking three and hitting two batters so Spooner took over in the third inning and finished the final five frames for the Clippers. Spooner struck out 10 in his five innings of work while walking three and hitting one batter. Spooner picked up the victory, his fourth of the season.
Offensively, the Clippers got on the board early scoring five in the first inning. The score would stay 5-0 until Columbiana tacked on three more in the sixth to extend their lead to 8-0. Riley McElwain led the way going 3-4 with two doubles on the afternoon. Spooner added two hits to help his cause and Zachary Pleska also had two hits including a triple and three RBI. Eddie Clancy also doubled for the Clippers.
Columbiana is back in action tomorrow as the team heads to Wellsville to take on the Tigers at Hammond Park. First pitch is scheduled for 5 PM.
