Columbiana traveled to Atwater to take on the Waterloo Vikings on Tuesday afternoon in the Clippers final spring training game. Columbiana and Waterloo played 6 varsity innings followed by 3 JV innings on a cool cloudy afternoon.
Seth Spooner got the start on the mound pitching three innings. Zachary Pleska followed with another three innings. The two combined did not give up a hit or allow a walk. Only three Viking baserunners reached base on two hit by pitches and an error.
At the plate, the Clippers saw a number of contributors including Bayden Pipoly, Spooner, Alex Eusebio and Blake Nusser.
With the spring competition season over, the Clippers will now look to tighten up fundamentally before its first contest next week. Columbiana JV’s will open up on Monday vs. Carrollton while the Varsity’s first contest will be March 30th at Rootstown.
