Pleska Leads the Way in Victory Over United

Box Score

Zachary Pleska helped ignite the Clippers to a 3-2 eight inning victory over United on Monday afternoon.  With the win, Columbiana (15-6, 10-0 EOAC) has guaranteed at least a share of the EOAC crown with a two game advantage over Lisbon with two games to play.

Logan Hoschar got the start and went four innings giving up two runs (1 earned) on three hits.  Hoschar would strike out four and walk three on the day.  Pleska (4-0) took the bump in the fifth inning and would quickly strike out the first six batters he would face.  For the day, Pleska pitched four innings allowing just one hit while striking out 10 and not walking a batter.

The mound was not the only place Pleska shined, however.  Batting leadoff, Pleska finished 2-3 for the day including a triple, his first homerun of the year and a walk.  Pleska also scored all three Clipper runs including the game winner on Riley McElwain’s walkoff single to right in the seventh inning.

Tyler Andersen, Bayden Pipoly and Logan Hoschar each singled for the Clippers.

Columbiana will travel to United tomorrow with a chance to clinch the league crown outright.  First pitch is scheduled for 5 PM.
