Clippers Stymied by Tigers

Box Score

After a long week of rain the Columbiana Clippers (14-5) welcomed the Howland Tigers (12-5) to Firestone Park for a Thursday afternoon matchup.  The Tigers came out on top posting a 13-1 victory of the Clippers.

Howland got off to a fast start scoring two runs in the first inning and never looked back.  The big blow came in the third when the Tigers scored 8 runs on timely hitting and some defensive miscues by the Clippers.

Alex Eusebio (2-2) took the loss giving up 10 runs (5 earned) in the contest.

The Clippers lone run came via a big blast in the fourth inning by sophomore Seth Sooner who sent a 2-2 pitch over the left field fence for his fourth home run of the season.  Riley McElwain contributed with Columbiana’s only other hit of the game.

Columbiana will be back in action tomorrow as the Clippers will travel to Garretsville to take on the GMen of Garfield.  First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 PM.
