Clippers Defeat Blue Devils Saturday

The Summer Clippers defeated Western Reserve 4-3 Saturday afternoon in a well played nail biter.  Joey Wilczak picked up the win with two strong innings in relief.  Also pitching for the Clippers were Logan Hoschar and Johnny Ervin.  Hoschar got the start and pitched four strong inning giving up just 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 7.  Ervin pitched for the first time in his career and came up big when he needed to.  After 3 straight soft contact hits, Ervin was able to strike out Reserve’s 1 hitter and get the 2 hitter to fly out keeping the game tied.

The Clippers took an early 2-0 lead but heading into the bottom of the sixth the game was tied at 3.  Hoschar led off the inning with a double.  With one out he moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a Carson Dota ground out to second giving the Clippers a 4-3 lead.

At the plate the Clippers were led by Hoschar with two hits and two runs along with Ryan Fahs who also had two hits.  Dota and Eddie Clancy each singled while Brady Kridler knocked in the teams first run.

The Summer Clippers will return home Monday to take on Salem at 6 PM.
