Chase Franken has been named WKBN’s student athlete of the week. The YSU baseball commit has excelled in the classroom and both on the football and baseball fields. Franken currently holds a 3.8 gpa and plans on studying communications for the Penguins.
On the baseball field Franken currently holds five school records including the single season triples record along with four career records (Doubles, Triples, Extra Base hits and Runs Scored). Chase was named honorable mention all Ohio last year along with first
team Pro Baseball Report and first team Northeast District. Franken has been a first team pitcher in the ITCL and EOAC the last three years.
Along with baseball, Franken has excelled on the football field earning all league honors for three years and was named to the NE Inland District as a Wide Receiver. Franken holds Clipper career records for receiving TD’s and receiving yards along with the single game record for receiving yards against McDonald in 2018.
