Bats Go Cold as Clippers Fall to Beaver Local

Columbiana (9-9) could only muster 3 hits as it fell to Beaver Local on a cool overcast Saturday 5-3.

Matt Mazei took the loss for Columbiana pitching 2 innings giving up 3 runs (2 earned) on 4 hits in two innings of work.  Wayne Davis worked 2 innings of relief giving up 1 run on 2 hits and Ryan Fahs finished the last 3 innings giving up 1 unearned run on 1 hit while striking out 4.

Chase Franken, Evan Kenneally and Phil Slater collected the hits for the Clippers on the afternoon.  Slater’s single in the second was his first career varsity hit.  Erik Hopfenziz walked and scored a run and Wayne Davis was hit by a pitch and scored.

Columbiana will be back in action Monday at Leetonia.  First pitch is scheduled for 5 PM.
