Western Reserve (5-0) turned a close game into a 10-0 defeat of Columbiana (3-3) on Saturday afternoon at Legion Field. Columbiana trailed by a 3-0 score heading into the 7th inning, but the Blue Devils were able to add 7 runs in the frame to pull away.
Western Reserve took and early 2-0 lead but was only able to add one more in the next 5 frames as the Clippers were solid defensively turning two inning ending double plays to keep the score within reach. Riley McElwain (0-1) got the start and gave up 3 runs over 4 innings.
Offensively, the Clippers mustered 6 hits on the afternoon. Brady Dixon led the way as he was 3-3 on the day. Chase Franken, Wayne Davis and Tyler Andersen also collected hits for Columbiana.
After an off day on Sunday, Columbiana will be back in action Monday as the Clippers host Lisbon in a key EOAC contest. First pitch is scheduled for 5 PM.
