Clippers Best Wildcats on Rainy Friday Afternoon

Columbiana (3-2) welcomed Struthers (3-4) to Legion Field on a wet and muddy Friday afternoon and came away with a 6-4 six inning victory.  Field conditions held up for six innings before the umpires decided to call the game due to darkness and slippery areas on the field.

Evan CardEvan Kenneally (1-0) got the start and pitched a solid four innings earning his first victory of the year.  Kenneally gave up 1 run on 3 hits in the ballgame.  Matt Mazei would relieve Kenneally followed by Seth Ross who picked up his first save of the year.

At the plate, the Clippers had 6 hits but also walked 7 times on the afternoon.  Chase Franken led the way with 2 hits, including a double, and 2 walks.  Ryan Fahs helped the cause with a double and 3 rbi’s on the afternoon.  Zach Pleska, Michael Ginocchi and Kenneally all singled for the Clippers.

Columbiana will be back in action tomorrow as the Clippers take on Western Reserve at Legion Field.  First pitch has been pushed back to 2 PM.
