Clippers Defeat Indians 9-1

FahsColumbiana (2-1, 2-1 EOAC) hosted the Southern Indians (4-3, 2-2 EOAC) on Tuesday afternoon at Legion Field.  Southern opened up the scoring in the first taking a 1-0 on an unearned run but the Clippers would quickly answer posting 2 runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning.  Erik Hopfenziz would knock in the first run on an infield single and Zachary Pleska would bring home the second with an RBI fielder’s choice.

SETH ROSSIn the second, the Clippers would tack on 2 more.  Columbiana would tack on another in the 4th and a bases clearing double by Ryan Fahs in the 5th put the score at 8-1.  Erik Hopfenziz would score on an error in the 6th to round out the scoring.

ZACHARY PLESKAA number of players had good days at the plate for the Clippers.  Seth Ross was 2-3 and scored 4 runs.  Fahs would pick up 2 hits both doubles while Chase Franken added a triple.  Evan Kenneally doubled on the day and Pleska would pick up his first two varsity hits in the victory.

Franken (2-0) got the start on the bump for the Clippers and was once again stellar.  Franken gave up 1 run (0 earned) and struck out 15 on his way to complete game victory.  The game was called after six due to darkness.

Columbiana will next head to Canton to take on the Central Catholic Crusaders on Thursday.  First pitch is scheduled for 5 PM.
