Columbiana (1-1, 1-1) fell to East Palestine (2-1, 1-1) Wednesday afternoon by a 4-2 score to even up the season series at 1 game apiece. The Clippers started off well with three straight hits to take a 2-0 lead in top of the first. After one out, Ryan Fahs and Chase Franken singled. Brady Dixon lined a ball off the second baseman’s glove scoring both Fahs and Franken giving Columbiana the early lead. That was all Columbiana could muster the rest of the way though, as good pitching by Dalton Vance and steller defense for the Bulldogs kept the Clippers at 2 runs.
On the mound Fahs got the start and pitched well going 5 innings giving up 4 runs (3 earned) while striking out 3. Riley McElwain saw his first varsity action in the sixth putting up a scoreless effort and striking out 2.
Columbiana is off until Monday when the Clippers will travel to Southern to take on the Indians in another EOAC matchup. Game time is scheduled for 5 PM.
