On a sunny, Monday afternoon the Columbiana Clippers (1-0, 1-0 EOAC) welcomed the East Palestine Bulldogs (0-1, 0-1) to town for a opening day of the 2019 season. The Bulldogs immediately put the pressure on Clipper pitcher Chase Franken taking an early 2-0 lead after scoring two unearned runs in the first, but the Clipper ace was able to buckle down and throw six scoreless innings after to earn his first victory of the season. On the day, Franken allowed the two unearned runs on 3 hits while striking out 11.

Wayne Davis also had a big day for Columbiana. Davis hit a 1 out double to right field in the 2nd inning that brought home Zach Pleska. Evan Kennally would also score on the play as the throw to third got away from the Bulldogs which also moved Davis to third. Davis would score two pitches later on a wild pitch giving the Clippers the lead which proving to be the winning run.
Columbiana would tack on another run in the 4th on an RBI single by Ryan Fahs and the final tally in the 6th when Evan Kenneally scored on a wild pitch after singling earlier in the inning.
Columbiana will head to East Palestine on Wednesday to conclude the teams two game series. First pitch at the Next Level Complex is schedule for 5 PM.
