Columbiana baseball has named Josh Saverko as its new pitching/assistant coach for the upcoming 2019 season. Saverko replaces Hank Schlueter who had to resign due to a promotion and new work schedule.
Saverko is a 2011 graduate of Columbiana and played on the 2010 state semifinal team. Josh was a 4 year letter winner for the Clippers and holds the single season wins record which he accomplished in 2009. After high school Josh continued his baseball career at Ohio Valley University. The Fighting Scots are a division II program from West Virginia who compete in the GMAC Conference. Josh was a 3 year letter winner for the Fighting Scots, first serving as a starting pitcher and finishing his career as a reliever and closer. In 2016, Josh tied the GMAC record with 23 appearances as his squad participated in the conference tournament.
Josh has welcomed the opportunity to coach for the Clippers, “I am really looking forward to coming back to my alma mater to coach and help the athletes grow not only as players, but young men.”
The Clippers would like to thank Coach Schlueter for his service the last two years and welcome Coach Saverko to the squad.
