Box Score

An April snow storm rolled in overnight dropping two inches of snow on Columbiana, but Legion Field was up to the task as the Columbiana Clippers (1-2, 1-1) defeated the Southern Indians (1-1, 1-1) Monday afternoon in EOAC action.

Chase Franken (1-1) led the way on the mound throwing a complete game 1 hit shutout for the Clippers.  Franken struck out 10 while only walking two.  Franken also fielded his position well adding five assists on the day.  The Clippers were flawless in the field in support of Franken all afternoon.

With the game scoreless in the third Joe Bable reached on an infield single.  Hunter Zentner followed with a double to left putting runners on second and third with one out.  Ryan Fahs knocked in Bable with an RBI single to right and Zentner scored on a sacrifice fly by Franken.  AJ Perkins would round out the scoring when he reached on an error which scored Fahs.

Zentner would finish the day with two hits.  Also, collecting a hit for the Clippers was Erik Hopfenziz.

Columbiana will be back in action again tomorrow when they welcome the Indians back to Firestone Park for game two of their series.  Evan Kenneally is expected to be on the bump with first pitch scheduled for 5 PM.
