Quakers down Clippers Under the Lights

Columbiana (0-2) traveled to Salem to take on the Quakers (2-0) on a windy Saturday night after a week of rainouts.  The visiting Clippers were done in by a 7 run fourth inning and fell by a 12-1 score in five innings.

Columbiana took an early lead in the first after Chase Franken walked, stole second and scored on a two out hit by AJ Perkins.  That was all the scoring the Clippers could muster despite loading the bases in both the second and third innings.

At the plate, Columbiana was led by Perkins who also added a single in the third inning.  Hunter Zentner recorded his first varsity hit with a second inning double.  Additionally Franken, Erik Hopfenziz and Evan Kenneally each walked twice for the Clippers.

On the mound Matt Mazei recorded his first varsity strikeout in the 4th as he closed out the inning.

The Clippers are back at it on Monday April 2nd when they host EOAC Rival Southern at Firestone Park.  First pitch is scheduled for 5 PM.
