Clippers drop home opener to Bulldogs

Columbiana (0-1, 0-1) fell to the East Palestine Bulldogs (1-0, 1-0) on a sunny but cool and windy afternoon by a score of 5-1.

Chase Franken (0-1) got the start and pitched well allowing 2 runs (0 ER) on 3 hits and striking out 8 in his five innings of work.  Wayne Davis pitched in relief tossing 1.2 innings of scoreless ball in his first varsity action on the mound.

Collecting hits for Columbiana were Joey Bable and Ryan Fahs.  Bable also stole two bases and scored the lone run for the Clippers.  Chase Franken had a sac fly and and a walk on the afternoon.

The Clippers will be back in action tomorrow when they head to the Next Level Baseball Complex to take on the Bulldogs in the second game of the league series.  First pitch is scheduled for 5 PM.
