The Columbiana Clippers (17-2, 7-1) clinched at least a share of the ITCL White Division crown Wednesday afternoon with their 11-7 defeat of the Lisbon Blue Devils (12-5, 5-1). The game was the continuation of the April 19th suspended game. The game was suspended in the bottom of the 8th inning with two outs on Lisbon and a 11-6 score. Chase Franken took the mound this afternoon, allowing one hit before striking out Justin Sweeney to end the game and the Blue Devil threat. Tim Davin’s 8th inning grand slam proved to be the difference for the Clippers.
In the second game, Franken picked up where he left off allowing five hits and two runs in his complete game victory. Franken is now 6-0 on the season. At the plate, Columbiana scored three runs in the first thanks largely in part to Zach Fahs’s two run single. Jake Clark extended the lead in the sixth with a two run single of his own. On the day Clark finished with three hits, while Mitch Davidson added a hit, rbi and was hit by two pitches.
Columbiana will finish off the week with a home game with Springfield tomorrow at Firestone Park. First pitch is scheduled for 5 pm.
