Big Flies Help Lead Clippers past Bears

Two homeruns, efficient pitching and good defense helped lead the Clippers (15-2, 6-1) past the Leetonia Bears on Tuesday afternoon.

Keenan Green and Chase Franken each hit home runs on the day.  Green’s was a three run blast to center field in an 11 run third inning for the Clippers.  Franken’s came in the fourth and was a solo shot down the right field line.  On the day Green finished with two hits and the three rbi’s.  Franken was 3-3 with two rbi’s and three runs scored.  In addition to Franken and Green, Tim Davin knocked in four runs on two hits including a three run double in the third.  Zach Fahs also recorded two hits on the day.

AJ Perkins got the start and pitched a complete game throwing only 49 pitches.  Perkins moved to 2-0 on the season after his fine start.  Perkins allowed three hits, while walking two and striking out two.  The Clippers also turned two double plays behind him.

Columbiana will head back to Lisbon Wednesday afternoon to finish their suspended game.  A win for Columbiana will clinch at least a share of the ITCL White Division crown while a Lisbon comeback will keep them up one game with two to play.  Following the suspended contest the to clubs will compete in a non-league game afterwards.  The suspended contest is scheduled to start at 5 pm.
