Columbiana jumped out to a 2-0 first inning lead and never looked back as the Clippers (14-2, 5-1) earned an 11-1 six inning win over ITCL White Division rival Leetonia.
Freshman Ryan Fahs (1-0) took the bump for his first varsity start and did not disappoint. Fahs pitched the complete game giving up 1 run (1ER) on seven hits while striking out four and walking just one. Fahs also had a hand in two double plays and was able to get a Leetonia hitter to ground into a third.
At the plate, the Clippers pounded out 11 hits including four extra base hits. Freshman Chase Franken led the way going 3-3 on the day including a double and a triple, scoring three runs and knocking in two. AJ Perkins and Dustin Bennett each had two hits including a triple for Perkins. Bennett had 2 rbi’s on the afternoon. Keenan Green also added a triple for the winners while knocking in one run.
Columbiana is back at it tomorrow when the Clippers travel to Leetonia to take on the Bears. First pitch is scheduled for 5 pm.
