Columbiana (16-11) scored 4 seventh inning runs to defeat Western Reserve in dramatic fashion on Friday afternoon. Vince Vivo singled with one out to left field driving in Zach Fahs and Seth Ross for the winning run. Mitch Davidson (5-2) picked up the victory for the Clippers.
The game was low scoring in the early going with Columbiana leading 2-1 until Western Reserve was able to scrape 2 across in the sixth to take a 3-2 lead. In the seventh, the Blue Devils tacked on 2 more to build their lead to 5-2.
In the bottom of the frame Dylan Davin got things started with an infield single. Josh Herbert followed with a walk and Jake Clark singled to load the bases with no one out. After a pop out in the infield, Seth Ross hit a ground ball to short. The throw got past first and scooted out of play allowing two runs to score and the runners to move up to 2nd and 3rd. Vivo was then the hero lining a 2 strike pitch to left field driving in both runners for the 6-5 victory. It’s the second walk off hit for Vivo on the season.
Columbiana will conclude its season tomorrow at Warren JFK. First pitch is scheduled for Noon.
