Box Score

Columbiana (14-8) used a 5 run third inning to defeat Campbell Memorial at Firestone Park on Monday night.  With the victory the Clippers move on to the Sectional Final where they will travel to Crestview to take on the #2 seeded Rebels.

Campbell Memorial got off to a fast start scoring 2 runs in the top of the first inning.  Starting pitcher Jake Clark (5-3) settled down after allowing 3 hits in the first getting the complete game victory only allowing 1 more hit the rest of the way.  On the afternoon, Clark gave up 2 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits and 2 walks.  Clark also struck out 11 on the day.

The Clippers managed only 5 hits but got all they needed in the big 3rd inning.  Tim Davin led off the frame with a double to the right center field gap.  Clark followed with a single up the middle.  With runners on the corners, Seth Ross squared to bunt but was hit by the pitch.  Campbell played the infield in and Vince Vivo hit a hard ground ball to second that was misplayed allowing the first run to score.  Mitch Davidson then roped a 2 RBI double to right center field to give the Clippers the lead.  Vivo scored on a wild pitch and Keenan Green finished off the scoring with an RBI groundout.

Mitch Davidson gets the start for Columbiana tomorrow with the first pitch scheduled for 4:30.
