Jake Clark pitched a perfect game for Columbiana Thursday evening. In the 14-0 five inning win, Clark faced the minimum amount of hitters striking out 12 Tiger batters while inducing 2 pop ups and one ground out. On the day, Wellsville only managed to hit one ball out of the infield. Clark was very efficient as he only threw 59 total pitches in his five innings with 42 going for strikes. Clark only went to three balls on one batter in the game, which happened to be the last batter he faced. After getting ahead of the hitter 1-2, Clark threw two straight balls leaving him with only one pitch standing in his way of a perfect game. Clark was able to get the Tiger batter to wave and miss at the next pitch, thus etching his name in Clipper baseball history.
In addition to an outstanding pitching performance, Clark helped out his own cause collecting 3 hits for the Clippers while driving in 3 runs. On the day, the Clippers pounded out 14 hits which included 5 doubles. Dylan Davin had three hits while Vince Vivo added two doubles on the afternoon. Ben Taylor drove in three runs while collecting two hits including a double and walking twice.
The 4-2 Clippers will head to Crestview tomorrow to take on the Rebels. First pitch is scheduled for 5 pm and Zach Fahs will take the mound for Columbiana.
