2016 Baseball Preview

By Josh Herbert

The Clipper’s look to keep it right where they left off last season, as they won the ITCL White Division going 8-0 in the league, even with some new faces on the coaching staff and on the field. New to the coaching staff is pitching Coach Bill Sattler, who looks to add his minor league playing experience to help the Clippers young arms.  In addition, Coach John Rosati and Paul Hostetter bring a lot of enthusiasm to the JV squad.

The Clippers look to stay rock solid behind the plate with returning catchers, Keenan Green (JR) and Nate Armstrong (SR). The Clippers infield will look almost completely different than a year ago as they lost Austin Saverko (3B), Devin Rice (SS), Matt Weidner (2B), and Zach Frenger (1B). That being said, the incoming players will not be afraid of the challenge as returning varsity letterman Josh Herbert (SR) and Jake Clark (JR) look to keep the corners locked down. Incoming junior’s Brandon Johnston and Connor Stacey look to stay solid up the middle. The Clippers outfield will look very familiar with all three starters returning.  Dylan Davin (SR), Mitch Davidson (JR), and Timmy Davin (JR) look to run down everything hit their way.

The Clippers rotation is losing some of their most reliable arms but Jake Clark and Mitch Davidson look anchor the rotation with elevated roles this year. Other crucial members that are ready to make a big difference are Levi Birch (SR), Ben Taylor (SR), Zane Adkins (SR), Vince Vivo (JR), Zach Fahs (SO), Dustin Bennett (SO) and AJ Perkins (SO).
