Box Score

Columbiana (13-10) defeated Salem 6-4 Wednesday afternoon.  Mitch Davidson picked up his fourth win while Drew Cyrus got his second save of the year.

Both teams were scoreless after two frames when a storm rolled in causing a 43 minute delay.  The Quakers quickly got on the board in the third scoring two runs with some aggressive baserunning.  Salem tacked on another in the fourth taking a 3-0 lead.  The Clippers were able to cut the deficit to 3-1 after Davidson led of the 4th with a triple and later scored on Tim Davin’s sacrifice fly.

In the bottom of the sixth, Matt Weidner led off the inning with a walk but was forced out at 2nd on Davidson’s grounder to short.  Keenan Green singled to center moving Davidson to third and advanced to second on the throw.  Davin following with a walk bringing up Dylan Davin.  After taking two balls Salem switched pitchers bringing in a right hander.  Davin flipped to the left side and hit a single to right scoring Davidson.  Devin Rice followed with a hard ground ball single in the hole at short tying the game at 3.  With the bases loaded Austin Saverko laid a perfect suicide squeeze bunt bringing home Tim Davin with the go ahead run.  Zach Frenger ripped a single to right scoring Dylan Davin and Rice, rounding out the scoring.

Cyrus entered with a 6-3 lead and was able to get three outs while giving up one run.

The Clippers host United Thursday at Firestone Park.  First pitch is scheduled for 5 pm.
