Box Score

Columbiana defeated Lisbon Thursday evening 8-4 to move to 5-0 in the ITCL White Division and get back over the .500 mark at 8-7 overall.

Jake Clark (2-2) picked up the win while Drew Cyrus closed out the final two innings picking up his first save of the year.

Mitchell Davidson got the start for Columbiana, but with the cold air had uncharacteristic control problems.  Lisbon was able to score 4 runs in the first two innings off Davidson while only collecting one hit.  All 4 runs were walked in by Davidson and Clark when he relieved Davidson with 1 out in the 2nd inning.  Clark got out of a bases loaded jam in the 2nd when he forced a pop up to Matt Weidner at 2nd base.  The Lisbon baserunner at third tried to tag up and Weidner threw a two hopper to home where Keenan Green did a great job blocking the plate nailing the baserunner.

Clark put zero’s on the board until Cyrus relieved him in the top of the sixth inning.  Cyrus gave up two hits but did not walk a batter and ended the game when he forced a ground out to third securing the victory.

At the plate, the Clippers were able to score one in the first when Davidson scored on a wild pitch after him and Green each singled earlier in the inning.  The Clippers pulled within one in the third inning after an RBI ground out by Devin Rice and a run scoring double by Austin Saverko.

With the score 4-3, Columbiana took the lead for good in the 4th inning scoring four runs.  With 1 out Weidner walked followed by a Davidson single.  Green brought in Weidner, when he reached on an error by the Blue Devil shortstop.  With two outs, Rice and Dylan Davin each singled bringing in Davidson and Tim Davin who had reached on a fielders choice.  Rice rounded out the scoring when he stole home to make the score 7-4.

The Clippers were able to tack on one more run in the sixth after a run scoring ground out by Tim Davin.

The Clippers are back in action on Friday when they travel to East Palestine to take on the Bulldogs.  Columbiana is looking to avenge a 3-2 loss in the opener March 30th.  First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
