The Clippers (6-7, 3-0) dropped two games to the Toronto Red Knights (13-1) on Saturday afternoon. Toronto defeated Columbiana 10-0 in game one and 12-2 in game two.
In the first game Toronto got three runs in the first (1 earned) and broke the game open in the fourth scoring seven runs (1 earned) to extend their lead to 10-0. The Clippers were only able to manage two hits in the game. Dylan Davin singled and Austin Saverko hit a double in the second inning for Columbiana. Drew Cyrus got the start and pitched well. Cyrus game up 6 runs (2 earned) in 3 2/3 innings while only walking 2.
Toronto was able to jump all over the Clippers in game two scoring 12 runs in the first two innings while being aided by 6 Clipper errors. Columbiana was able to get on the board in the 3rd when Keenan Green knocked in Mitch Davidson for the Clippers first run of the afternoon. In the fourth, Nate Armstrong had an RBI single scoring Matt Weidner who had singled earlier in the inning.
Zach Frenger took the loss for the Clippers tossing one inning giving up 8 runs 4 of them being earned.
The Clippers look to rebound on Monday as they take on Lisbon in a tough ITCL White Division match up. Game time is 5 pm at Firestone Park.
