Clippers run streak to 5 with 9-0 win over Wellsville

Columbiana moved above .500 with a 9-0 win over the Wellsville Tigers on Tuesday afternoon.  The Clippers were led by a superb pitching performance by Devin Rice.  Rice threw the a complete game shutout striking out 14 Tiger batters along the way.  Along with the 14 K’s, Rice only gave up 2 infield singles allowing five total base runners (2 BB’s and 1 ROE).  Of those five Rice picked off two on the bases.

The Clippers pounded out 12 hits for the evening leading to their 9 runs.  Leading the way for Columbiana was Tim Davin who was 3-4 with with an RBI and run scored.  Rice helped his own cause collecting 2 hits including a double and knocked in 3 runs along the way.  Kennan Green and Mitch Davidson each had two hits while Davidson also smashed a triple.

With the win, Columbiana moves to 5-4 for the year and 2-0 in the new ITCL White Division.

The Clippers are back in action Wednesday when they travel to Salem.  Jake Clark is scheduled to take the mound for the 5 pm first pitch.
