Columbiana evens record with 16-1 defeat of Wellsville Tigers

The Clipper baseball team (4-4, 1-0) used 11 Wellsville errors and fine pitching performances from Mitch Davidson and Tim Davin to defeat the Tigers 16-1 Monday afternoon.

Davidson (1-1) got the start on the bump and threw 3 innings striking out 5 while only giving up 1 hit.  Davin finished the final 2 innings giving up 1 run but struck out 4 and did not give up a hit.

At the plate many Clippers were involved in the action.  Dylan Davin collected 3 hits while Devin Rice added 2.  Keenan Green and Tim Davin each knocked in 3 runs as Columbiana continued to put the ball in play and took advantage of the Tiger miscues.  For the game, Columbiana knocked out 8 hits, walked 6 times and was hit by 4 pitches.

The Red and White are back in action tomorrow as they face Wellsville in the second game of the home and home series.  Devin Rice is on the hill looking to move to 2-0 on the season.  First pitch is scheduled for 5 pm at Firestone Park.
